Adding Events, Photos, Videos & Comments

Adding an Event

If you'd like to get into the spirit of the Mixedin community then it's easy to add an event. First sign up for an account (create a username, add an email address and password and off you go!), then click on the 'Add Events' tab. (Click here to go to Add Event now).

Once the Add Event page is open simply type in or select all the relevant information. You can also add photos and videos and invite your friends by email to this event.

You can post any sort of activity or event e.g. garage sales, parties, picnics, conventions, seminars, band nights, rallies, concerts, plays, movies releases, shopping sales, bands (the list goes on and on). You make the event either public (so that anyone can view the event page) or private (event page can be seen by selected friends only), such as when you organise a party at home.

You will also need to add a venue for your event. See Adding a Venue for further details. You can add a new venue when creating your event page. Alternatively, you can add a venue from your MyMix account (this will be your default venue and is useful if you are organising regular events at the same location).

Event Creator: Organiser or Spotter

When you add an event you can select to be either an Event Organiser or an Event Spotter. We have these two categories to help users understand who has added event information and how involved they are in the particular event.

Organiser - Select this option if you are the person organising or managing this event or activity (including if you are adding the event on behalf of an organisation)

Spotter - Select this option if you have spotted an event that you would like to list but are not the actual organiser

Adding Photos and Video URLs to your Event

It is easy to add photos and video URLs to an event. When you add an event select the 'Photos & Videos' tab. You can then upload photos (whilst in beta mode there's a limit of 1Mb for each photo and 5 photos in total) and add links to event videos, which can be then viewed within the mixedin site.

First, you will need to upload your video to one of the many video sharing websites (see below). Then you will need to note the URL (link) on the video site that links directly to your video. You can then copy the URL into the 'Add Video URL' space on Mixedin.

Always make sure that you are the owner or have permission to use a video before posting it online!

Inviting People to Your Events

When you are adding an event you have the option to invite friends by email. To invite your friends simply click the "Invite Friends" tab on the top of the add events information box.

If you wish to invite friends after you've added your event you can always go to your MyMix account and click the 'Edit' button on any event you have Organised or Spotted .

Adding Comments to Events

Get involved with the Mixedin community and post comments on events, ask questions, add your own information or just chat with like minded community members.

To post a comment to a particular event, go to the event page (to find an event do an event search ) and find the comments on the left hand-side with an 'Add Comment' box at the bottom. Simply type in your comment (you can use HTML formatting such XXXXXX) and then submit.

Comments can't be deleted by users once added, however we sometimes might remove comments where the content is inappropriate .
